Is China Trying To Take Over The Media In Taiwan So As Do Flood It With One-sided Pro-CCP Propaganda…

Best Answer

its unfortunate but yes, easiest way to control everyday people is through media, and China has been doing that through that Tsai guy. Since Taiwanese laws have forbid direct Chinese funding to invest in ALL taiwanese businesses, this Tsai guy has been acting as the devil's advocate. He started with the aquisition of newspaper ChinaTimes a few years back, and now is trying to control more media outlets such as newspaper Apple Daily and TV stations.

On the surface he may look Taiwanese, but everyone knows deep down that this guy is a communist and really just an advocate for the Chinese government.

Can I Bring A Reborn Baby On An Airplane?

So i am going to florida on an airplane next month. Do you think they will let me carry her through the airport? She has a magnet in her mouth. Thanks very much!!

Best Answer

I'm not sure what a reborn baby is but of course babies can travel on airplanes. Any metal will set off the metal detector so be sure to tell them about it ahead of time. some airports just do a body scan. You do have to let the airline know that you are bringing a baby.

Is Bringing A Wooden Toy Sword To The Airport Illegal?

I plan to buy a wooden sword (designed like a medieval sword) with a scabbard while at the Philippines and on the way to NAIA Airport (Ninoy Aquino international Airport) when we are to depart for Qatar onboard Qatar Airways,is it legal? I don't know if it is allowed to bring it with me whether its in the luggage or a handbag and I'm worried that it might get detected in the detector while scanning the luggages. Is it illegal to bring it? Is there a way that I could explain it to the security if they ask me? Thanks a lot, guys.

Best Answer

Definetely not legal to bring in a handbag. Possibly with a check-in luggage. I would recommend to call airport information to make sure. It could be considered as you trying to transport weapons to other countries :D. But it should be alright as a check-in luggage. ;)
Its different in some countries I guess. But my brother once brought a wooden machete with no problem in a check-in luggage.
On the other hand, my friend bought a suvenir bullet necklace in Russia and they arrested him (hilarious story by the way :D).
Good luck ;)

How Do I Know Which Track To Be On At Penn Station?

I'm going to be travelling from Philadelphia to Buffalo and I'm going to switch trains in NYC at Penn Station. The Philadelphia and Buffalo stations both seem pretty simple and organized, but I'm a little worried about Penn Station. It seems pretty big and from what I've found looking around (on youtube and other places) there are at least 15 or 16 tracks. So how do I know which track to be at? It's not on my ticket or anything.

Best Answer

It will be easy.

Get off your train at Penn Station, and then look at either one of the small video monitors scattered around the station, or the huge electronic board hanging over the main waiting area. Look for your train number under"DEPARTURES". (If you're leaving around 3:45pm, it will be train 49). When your train is ready for boarding, the"gate number" and"track number" will be posted, and a public address announcement will be made:"Amtrak's train 49 the Lake Shore Limited, making stops at Poughkeepsie, Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, xxx, xxx, and Chicago, is now ready for boarding at Gate X, Track nn".

Follow the crowds that will be heading to Gate X (the letter will be posted above the gate), show the Amtrak attendant your ticket, and go down the escalator to track nn. If you're unsure, ask any of the Amtrak employees who will be scattered around.

Im Going To Chicago For The First Time..where Should I Go In The Downtown Area?

*Chicago has great museums like the Art Institute, Natural History, and Science Museums, Shedd Aquarium - all worth going to in the downtown area.
*It has a lively theatre district where you can see some great plays and musicals like The Book of Mormon, Million Dollar Quartet, La Boheme, Rigoletto, Belleville, and Elvis Lives.
*Go listen to blues at clubs like Blue Chicago, Buddy Guy's, Kingston Mines, or B.L.U.E.S.
*Go see some improvisation comedy at Second City, a training ground for many comedy performers and writers who went on to fame in TV sitcoms, movies, and Saturday Night Live.
*Have some Chicago foods like Italian Beef sandwich, deep-dish pizza, Chicago-style hot dogs, or steakhouse.
*Go on one of the Architectural Foundation's tours - walking, boat, or segway.
*Visit the Macy's on State Street, not necessarily because of shopping, but because it is the second largest department store in the world and designed by renowned architect Daniel Burnham with features like the Great Clocks and marble columns, fountain, and Tiffany ceiling plus it has these great Frango Chocolate Mints for sale.
*Go see Millennium Park which has free outdoor concerts when the weather turns nice, The Cloud Gate sculpture, Buckingham Fountain, and an art nouveau Metra entrance.
*Take public transportation - CTA will inexpensively and efficiently take you most places you need to go including taking you to downtown accommodations from both airports; plus parking is very expensive in downtown if you drive a car.

Why Is It Cheaper To Travel To Thailand Than To Vietnam?

I am from Europe, and Thailand and Vietnam are about the same distance from my country.
but tour to Thailand is 2 times cheaper than to Vietnam.
Why is it so? I though that Vietnam is poorer country, so it should be cheaper!
And if you want to travel to Ethiopia is even more expensive, even though it's very poor.

Best Answer

Thailand has a bigger tourist industry and a lot more people travel to Thailand. It has nothing to do with the country being poorer.

A Good Beach In Spain ?

so im visiting Valencia, Alicante, malaga, and Almeria in july. and im wondering which of them has the best beach. for me a good beach means that it has some nice white sand and warm and calm water . so just put those cities in order if you can and if you know other towns that have better beaches tell me.

thanks

Best Answer

Barcelona is the best place to enjoy beach and sport as well. You can enjoy many sport games and activity and it would be a nice experience for you. Madrid, Seville are also some of the great travel oriented cities from Spain where you can enjoy a lot but these are not beach cities.

Stuff About The Big Peanut?

anyone know facts about The Big Peanut in North Tolga, Queensland (Australia)? Like when it was built, why it was built...

Best Answer

I have a book called'Big Things-Australia's Amazing Roadside Attractions' by David Clark and it has a page devoted to this'Big Peanut'
The text is' Some of the best peanuts in Australia are grown in the area around Tolga on north Queensland's Atherton Tablelands, but a rather pathetic Big Peanut sits atop a 5-metre high pole in front of the Big Peanut Fruit Shop just north of the town. Richard and Singke (Janet) Carver opened the shop in July 1977, selling locally produced fruit and vegetables on the site of an old peanut farm. Fire destroyed the building in 1992 and although it was rebuilt less than a month later, there's some debate as to whether the fibreglass peanut (with smiley face and top hat) should have survived.'

What Should I Expect Moving From San Diego To Bend, Oregon. Big And Small.?

I own my home and live in San Diego. I want to relocate. My husband's family lives in Oregon. It I've heard that some people have suffered depression going from sunny San Diego to a rainy area. may seem like a silly question and we plan to visit up there and stay for a month before we decide but I'd like to get others' opinions. We are both pet stylists and have five dogs (our kids). I just think Oregon would be a nicer area to live and settle down with my family. I've always wanted land and I'm a country girl at heart. Thanks!

Best Answer

San Diego is a great place until you are ready to grow up! I had a blast out here 18-27 now I'm ready to move on also to a different lifestyle. You definitely will not be paying sunshine tax haha huge positive! Your pet stylist business will appeal to a lot of people so I would really focus on that and meeting all kinds of new people and get their advice on what can keep you busy! Good luck on the move and don't forget you can always come back if you hate it. Nothing is permanent.

Is It True That Arizona/Phoenix There Is A Fly That Lays Eggs In Your Skin? Please Answer Im Moving …

Its always been my moms dream to move to or near Phoenix. But someone told us there is a fly that lays its eggs in your skin and then you have to take out the larva? Its called the bot or tumba fly they said. We are concerned about this. Does it effect humans or animals or both? Will I be able to walk my dog without her getting afflicted by it is there any way to avoid this? Thanks. I'm supposed to be moving there with the family in 5 months and then we hear about this...

Best Answer

Lol Ive lived in Phoenix my entire life and so have the last two generations of my family. There is a such thing as Bot Flies, but they arent here. They like more damp places and quite frankly Arizona is a dry state, especially Phx. The only things we really have, depending on where in Phx you plan on living are mosquitos, spiders (most not poisonous, and if they are its only enough to have a little infection) bats (harmless) pigeons n doves, javelina (avoid), coyotes (they avoid you), donkeys, cows, scorpions (shake out ur clothes n shoes), snakes (rattlers are really the only ones to worry about but are still pretty friendly). Yeah, pretty safe state, we dont have alot of the weird parasites n critters. Everything here is kicda just spiney lol

Austin, TX VS Boulder, CO?

Hey guys Im considering both University of Texas at Austin and University of Colorado at Boulder, Which area is better? where is the weather better, and there is more things to do, better places to dine, better college atmosphere? About me: I am an equestrian, I love outdoor activities, offroading snowboarding, water sports. I'm also a mall guy and I love burgers :)

I'm an international student
Help me out guys!

Best Answer

im not sure about texas, but i have a few friends going to school up in boulder, and i go up there every few weekends just to hang out and party, ive probably been up there 100 times and every time i go i have a blast, not only is it one of the best colleges in the united states and the world , but its also been rated as the best party school in america every year for the past 20 years by playboy magazine. its also backed up to the flatirons so directly to the west are the colorado rockies and to the east are the great plains, so there is always going to be somewhere new to go and something to do year round, the only weakness is going to be water sports, other than white water rafting, theres not to much of that out here. colorado is also known as the sunniest state with over 300 days of beautiful weather per year.

Why Do Bathrooms In Philippines Have No Toilet Paper?

I know its because squaters steal napkin and take it to their homes. Is that really the reason or r restaurants and malls just cheap

Best Answer

many establishments are not willing to spend on toilet paper, sad to say
ladies have grown accustomed to bringing their own tissue in their purses for this purpose
some use water to wash after they relieve themselves
or buy from vending machines that sell substandard folded tissue paper
but there is an increasing number of progressive establishments have already provide toilets papers as a standard - department stores, coffee shops, restaurants, ayala malls, etc

Does Anyone Know The Name Of A Ghost Town In South-africa?

its for a story, thank you!

Best Answer

Do you mean a town that is famous for a having a ghost or an actual deserted town where there are no inhabitants?

The Ghost of Uniondale is a famous South African ghost story, but Uniondale is not deserted.

I don't think there are any real ghost towns in South Africa, it would be such a waste.

Namibia has a famous ghost town (Polmanskop). Google it. It is very eerie and cool, with the houses disappearing into the desert dunes.

Good luck with your story!

City Walk Hollywood Open Today?

I checked their website.. But they don't have any operational hours listed for December-February.
Me and my date just want to go for the day to just City Walk, not to the park.

Best Answer

Yes, CityWalk is open every day. The store& restaurant hours vary, of course, from business to business. But the shopping center as a whole is almost always open, as are its movie theatres. (I assume it closes for Christmas.)

Be warned that the parking can be a little pricey ($15 for general parking, more for closer spots). But they will rebate some of that if you buy a movie ticket ($8 rebate if you go before 3 PM, and $5 rebate after 3 PM).

Today (March 26), CityWalk as a whole is open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Do You Have First Cruise Tips?

My fiance and I are going on our first cruise. I wanted to see if anyone had any advice/anything we should know for our cruise that is next week!

Best Answer

Read everything on the web site concerning cruises on that line, and then visit the information concerning your particular ship, and read all of that.

Be ABSOLUTELY SURE to pack your cruise documents and IDs in your purse or tote bag -- they will take your luggage from you at the dock, and you MUST have those papers to check in and get on the ship! There are NO exceptions to this!

Be sure to get to the dock when they say! If you are late you are not allowed to board the ship, and get 0 refund! No exceptions to this, either -- it is federal law!

Carry all medicines on your person, and your camera, too!

Be sure to take flipflops or water shoes, because the decks around pools get both hot and slippery.

You will need a coverup to walk through the ship while you are wearing your swimsuit. They are very picky about that! A large t-shirt will do.

Take a tote bag for use during the day on the ship. It will hold your daily program, sunglasses, sunscreen, paperback or puzzle book, etc. VERY handy.

One swimsuit is plenty.

Wear your sneakers to travel and while on shore.

Ladies do NOT need hose, heels, or perfume! Wear fancy sandals or nice flats for evening, and stop by the shop for a quick squirt of perfume from the testers. You might find a new favorite you just have to get!

Take half the clothes you think you need! If you are in a swimsuit most of the day, your shorts and tops will last for at least two days.

Don't take a hairdryer, since that is provided in your cabin.

Don't take a clothes iron! You CANNOT use it in your cabin, and many ships have self-serve laundry facilities for passengers, and those include irons. If your ship does not have facilities for passenger use, it will have a for-a-fee laundry and pressing service. Personally, I only take clothes that I can wash in the sink in my cabin, hang overnight to dry, and that never need ironing. I don't like to pay for laundry, or to take time to hang out in a laundry.

Read the daily program carefully, because it lists all facilities and the times they are open, plus all activities for that day. You will get a copy in your cabin, usually in the evening before the day it concerns. If you don't read about an activity, you don't know to go give it a try! Stick it in your tote bag.

A nice souvenir of your trip will be to keep all of the daily programs, and the daily 2 or 3 page news summaries. If you ask your dining room waiter to save them for you, you can also get all of the evening menus.

Unless you have unlimited funds for alcohol and soda, develop a taste for iced tea, which is always free on board and very good.

Go have a blast!

In Israel Would It Be Acceptable To Call My Dog Mariana?

I'm thinking about moving back to Israel, but my knowledge of Israel culture and customs had faded in the time I've been away.

I have a dog. It's a boy dog, but it likes to think its girl dog (lets call it a ***** to make things easier). The ***** is a Malaysian-Brazil mongrel, it's a bit ugly (especially on the inside), it has gone by many names before which does get confusing (love, xtasy, ewan, iwan, rivka etc), the ***** is a bit stupid and it likes to lick its own butt.

But, in Israel, would it be acceptable to call my dog Mariana?

Best Answer

Yes that is an fantastic name for a dog in my opinion. I say go for it!

Pros And Cons Of Becoming A Backpacker?

Straight out of high school, so between the ages of 20-24?

Best Answer

gotta say...you are getting out of high school at age 20?

I think you should do it. Con is that you don't necessarily get to start building towards a career, but the pros will outweigh that no problem, and esp. If you're not sure what you want to do yet then why the heck not!? I haven't backpacked around much, but I have traveled a bit and I hitchiked across Canada. Do it before you've got student loans to pay off!!! I regret not doing it more. Now I'm stuck in a bach. degree program that I think is fairly useless, and that is costing me an arm and a leg, but that I can't reasonably stop now. Whatever you do, don't just work out of school, or if you do go overseas or something. Either go travel or keep going to school. Those are the two choices. Work to fund your travels of course, but don't get caught in the trap of having a shitty job for years before you come to the realization that you haven't done anything you wanted to do yet because you'vebeen working your youth away!!!!

Types Of Wildlife (fowl) In Olympic Peninsula?

I'm curious to know what types of wildlife ... well fowl to be specific ... subside in the Olympic Peninsula and surrounding areas. Are there Canadian geese, loons, ducks, owls, etc? And how abundant are they? By that I mean, are they well populated or sighted often? I know that Eagles are a rather common sight in WA.

I'm just a lover of seeing and listening to fowl like geese, loons, and the occasional owl, etc. I live in Pennsylvania and want to take a trip out to the Peninsula sometime. Thanks a lot : )

Here is a list of birds seen at the Olympic Peninsula Bird Fest over the past few years. It gives you a decent idea of the types of fowl in the area at that time of year at least.

I would bring about $400-$500, more or less, to London if it was me. It is VERY expensive over there, but totally worth it (: I would same the same stuff as the person above me said too. It depends on what kind of shopper you are. Better to bring a little extra cash than not enough . Good luck& have fun ! You're so lucky !
A little tip for you : Make sure to bring something for wet weather because it rains a lot. Hardly ever see sunshine.

Advice On Moving To Australia?

Hello, I am looking to emigrate to Australia. My position is I am 21 and I am skilled worker, I have money to buy a house or start a small business. I was just wondering what would be best process to start the move? Also if I was to become a resident would I loose my UK residency?

Best Answer

The best process to start the move will depend on your occupation and what type of work visa you are eligible for. Few people your age can meet the requirements for anything other than an employer sponsored visa and if that's the case, you will need to find sponsorship by an eligible employer before you can do anything else. What is your occupation? Your qualifications? Your post qualification work experience?

If you have ILR in the UK, you will lose it if you stay out of the UK for more than 2 years. If you're a citizen, you can stay away for as long as you like without any issues.

Planning For 4 Days Trip From Kent To Scotland?

This is my first time driving a car for a long trip and new to Scotland. can anyone suggest me what are all the places to visit in Scotland, Aberdeen, (Inverness if possible), Edinburgh. Could you also give me some postcodes where in i can book-in some rooms for 2 or 3 nights, which will be comfortable for me to cover most of the places.

Best Answer

You may also visit Glasgow, Stirling, Perth away from Callander around an hour's drive. The distance from Callander to other towns are within a day drive, you may cover all the places if you depart a little bit early. You may cover two or three different towns in a day, however a whole day visit is not hectic.

Callander is an excellent base from which to visit all the main cities and towns in Scotland.

Have a happy& Safe Journey!

Are Radio Shiock Jocks The Biggest Censors Of Free Speech In Australia?

Shouting down differing opinions, giving no right of reply and at a last report cutting people off.

Best Answer

They always have been. In my job I handled radio enquiries and would often do interviews over the telephone but never with a shock jock. I was happy to go to the studio and do the interview in the studio but not over the phone. The reason is that the announcer has a voice activated microphone that cuts off everything else. If I am talking on the phone, all they have to do is talk over the top of me and whatever I am saying does not go to air - and I have no idea it is happening. You hear this regularly with people like Alan Jones. In the studio, I could see and hear when he was speaking so I would stop until he allowed me to speak again. The method was perfected by John Laws and has been used by every shock jock since.

Unless you agree with everything they say or want to discuss something they do not have a bee in their bonnet about, never do an interview over the phone with a shock jock. You'll lose if you do.

I am not attacking all radio announcers here, there are many who are very good and fair. If they ask you to speak on their program they allow you to do so even if they disagree with you and you can have a good discussion. It is the self-opinionated w@nkers who think they are god's gift you need to be wary of.

What's England/Great Britain Like?

Was thinking about taking a trip. Where are some great spots to go, things to see, preferred hotels/restaurants? Get specific as you want, I don't know what I'm doing yet... Thank you!

Best Answer

London: Fast paced - Olympic stadium, Big ben, Buckingham palace, Number 10 Downing street. Hotel -www.travelstay.com/pages/KingsCro...( Its cheap and you would need to get a under ground train through kings cross to get into the centre of London)

Lincoln: Historical - Cathedral, Castles, Water Towers, Food and Windmills. Hotel -www.castlehotel.net/accommodation...( Not cheap but exactly next to the Castle, quickly followed by the Cathedral a little further up)

Black pool: Touristy and Arcady - Black pool tower, Arcades, Horrible food and a Beach! (It always rains or snows in England, except from summer when it gets up to 20 degrees at maximum!

I live here and it's not brilliant but there are some great sights, if you want to go through the whole of England, Yorkshire has some amazing views, especially in the peak and lake district, beautiful places!

Hope this helps! Wales is another place to check out, beautiful scenery but it rains every time I go there! :)

Learning Japanese - Where Do I Begin?

I do know what Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji are, but that's pretty much it. I would love to learn how to read, write, speak and understand the language, but I just don't know where to begin.
Since I am only a 15 year old girl, I can't exactly go and take classes and I don't have the money to buy audio teaching-things and whatever that stuff is.
I already have taught myself how to play the piano and guitar, so I guess that with the help of my laptop, teaching myself another language shouldn't be that hard. And I do know other languages besides English, so learning other languages is not a problem either. I just don't know where to begin in this particular language.
Basically, I need some help from you guys telling me in what order I should learn the basic stages of Japanese.
So... help? :)
Thank you so much, you amazing people!

Best Answer

You sound just like me :D I am also a 15 year old girl who loves Japanese culture, taught myself paino and guitar, and cannot afford lessons. I was researching the Japanese language today and yesterday actually, and I found this guy who taught himself Japanese through anime. He's pretty cool and seems to know what he is talking about, you should check out his videos.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh1fQbLQx...
And, you seem like a hands-on person who, with the right supplies, could teach yourself the language, which I am hoping to do too. He doesn't teach e v e r y t h i n g about the Japanese language, but I did learn everything in his lessons and hopefully sometime in the future, I'll be able to speak fluent Japanese somehow.
Keep in mind that learning Japanese in a short time without a plan, a teacher, or program isn't exactly realistic, and all that stuff which I'm sure you already know.
That wasn't much help, but I had to answer your question because I'm on the same boat as you. So, I guess just check out his videos and good luck to you :D

Will Koreans Accept A Muslim Girl ?

I'm an Egyptian Muslim girl who wanna study in south Korea because of the amazing curriculum of the studies i wanna take, but as Korea has rarely any muslims, i'm afraid that i would be bullied everywhere (especially that i cover my hair ( hijab ) or i might even not get accepted in the universities because of that. I really dont know if thats true or not,
Thank you.

Best Answer

To be honest, I highly doubt your religion or religious attire will have a significant impact in deciding your acceptance into a university. Most Koreans in secondary education are highly educated and much less conservative than others, like in any other country, So, as long as you're appplying to a rather prestigious/solid school than your religion shouldn't be much of a problem in the acceptance process.

Korea does have a small (very small, though) population of Muslims. However, a lot of Koreans are Islamaphobic. A few years back, a relatively large group of Korean missionaries were kidnapped by the Taliban in the Middle East and quite a few were even decapitated (heads taken off) with swords on camera which the Taliban had the audacity to send to Korea. And since most people tend to be wary of people they have never met and have only heard bad stories about, you are probably going to catch some flak on the streets.

So, will your religion affect your application into a solid school? Probably not. Will you be looked at strangely on the streets? Probably. However, you can avoid the second situation by hanging around some Korean students who you get close with. Most college students in Korea are very liberal and are very open, so you shouldn't have a major problem mingling with them and they can serve as a buffer from any potential harassment on the streets, but it's not a surefire guarantee.

Good luck to you and I hope you make a thorough run-through of everything before you settle on any conclusion! (btw Korea does have quite a few women's universities that you may want to look into since your gender will be an advantage in this case. i.ewww.ewha.ac.kr/english/

How Do I Use Plane Tickets Bought Online?

I don't know if I can just pick one to use at my airport. How does the transfer work? How do I pick the right ticket?

Best Answer

The right ticket is the one which takes you from the airport you want to leave from, to the airport you want to go to, on the date you want, at a time that's acceptable, at a price you're willing to pay.
There is no"transfer". You buy online and get a confirmation number. You'll use that number - or just your name - at check-in at the airport, where your bags will be checked and you will be issued a boarding pass.
If you're not going to check any bags, you can bypass that part of the process on many airlines by checking in online and printing your boarding pass on your own computer.

This Will Be A Very Strange Question, And Trivial To Boot?

So I was trying to settle a medical bill I ran up in Australia. I tried to explain that to the girl I assumed was with the office when I called.
Anyways she was very nice but told me that it wasn't her I wanted and was on the toilet at the moment.
Was she joking with me or something? How would you feel if an American did that to you?

Best Answer

Medical receptions don't answer their calls from the toilet. I agree with the others - probably the wrong number.

What Do You Think Of The Idea That All Immigrants To Aus Have To Spend Their First 5 Years In A Coun…

Then after 5 years they can leave if they wish.
Some will but others wont and will become part of the community.
I think it would benefit both for these reasons.
It would stop assimilation in the cities which will give their children better life skills to adapt as Australians...
It would give these towns a much needed boost a big plus being the schools and sports clubs would benefit from extra students.
Most country people will give you a fair go if you give them one..
What other benefits can you think of and do think its good idea.

Best Answer

There was a programme to settle Sudanese in Shepparton in rural Victoria. They have generally settled well and are becoming a part of the community. It's a good idea, gives them a chance to settle their lives down without added pressures from city life. The Shepparton group have been well supported by liaison people and community workers (so jobs for locals as well).

Do You Think We Will Be Ok In London?

Me and two friends are going to london on april, were 15 but look older , were all getting fake ids and while were over were staying for 3 nights in a hotel, and were gonna use fake ids to go out to clubs and stuff, good idea?

Best Answer

NO, tried it myself and it didnt end well, ended up in three fights and lost the last one and I'm 16, my friends also 16. We went for two nights. Anyway I would advise you do something different BUT, if you do decide to continue with this idea it is a idea to let at least one person who can help should things go wrong know were you are at all times. But all in all I don't think it's a good idea

Can I Travel To Japan Alone Im 17?

my parents gave me full consent i have a hotel ready for when i go just wondering if i pay all the money then i arrive in japan and they send me back -.- my mum said that it could happen.

although i am going to call immigration on Monday to find out i just want some wide answers for now.

thanks!

Best Answer

I don't think there is much reason for Japanese officials to send you back to your country if you have consent from your parents. But it depends on the case. Nothing is 100% sure here.

Language does not affect whether you would be sent back, BTW.

Is It Safe To Travel In Spain Right Now?

I have a hunch I'm going to Spain soon. It' s just a hunch I can't be sure. But I want to know is it safe right now? I really want to go but better safe than sorry.

Best Answer

I believe you are from the USA but forgive me if I'm wrong.

My reason for mentioning this is that compared to the USA, Spain is extremely safe. As an example check out the murder rate per 100,000 of population for 2012.
Detroit - 58.1
New Orleans - 53.5
St. Louis - 35.5
Cleveland - 24.6
Chicago - 18.7

Spain - 0.9
Of all the European countries, where figures are available, Spain has the 4th lowest murder rate behind Austria, Slovenia and Germany.

I would add that as a visitor you should never drop your guard and be aware that pickpocketing and muggings do happen, as they do in many countries. Don't get into situations or areas where you become vulnerable.

Spain is a great country, so just enjoy it.

Some Korean Dramas Like Kpop Ultimate Audition And You're Beautiful?

Have you seen one of them? I loved both.
Both gender bender, romance, comedy. The girls dress as guys for their own reason and become HOT male Idols.

I have also liked all versions of Hana Kimi.
Thanks to all who answer!<3

Best Answer

Coffee Prince is a good gender Bender. But there are also other good dramas just in general.
Like:
Shut Up! Flower Boy Band
Playful Kiss (Kim Hyun Joong is a total hottie in this one)
Flower Boy Next Door (currently airing has 14 epsiodes so far)
A Gentleman's Dignity
Dream High 1 (don't watch the second one. It was good but it completely ruined how amazing the first one was)
Boys Over Flowers (my first drama<3)
Heartstrings (personally one of my favorites and has Jung Yong Hwa in it from You're Beautiful as the lead male)
But yeah there are many more but those are my favorite! Enjoy them and not just Gender Bender!

What Are Symptoms Of Change In Elevation Due To Being On An Airplane?

The cabin pressure on most jets is equivalent to the atmospheric pressure of 8000 feet. This means that there is less oxygen in the air, which in turn drops the oxygen saturation in your bloodstream. On the ground your oxygen saturation in your blood should be 98-99%, whilst in the air it can drop to as little as 93-94%. This has very little effect on most passengers as they are normally seated throughout the flight, and very little movement is required. The most common symptom is tiredness, and some people feel a little colder than normal, although that is more than likely due to inactivity.

Air expands at higher altitudes, and becomes denser at lower altitudes. This is what normally causes ear pain on flights. Some discomfort is normally felt on takeoff/climb, but the bulk of it is felt on descent/landing as the expanded air in the inner ear (Eustachian tubes) gets compressed, causing the ears to'pop'. If you are flying with a cold (or have problems in your inner ears) it is likely to cause a lot of pain, and in case of a complete blockage this can lead to a ruptured eardrum.

Tooth cavities can also cause immense pain at altitude, especially where air is trapped inside the tooth where the nerves are. As the air expands at higher altitudes it has nowhere to go, and presses on the nerves. This is excruciating, and aircrew are normally grounded until it has been rectified.

Due to the oxygen saturation I mentioned above, alcohol becomes about 3 times as potent in the air as it does on ground. The alcohol itself is not stronger, but the body is unable to cope well with alcohol at altitude. A large bulk of passenger safety related issues is caused by alcohol. People are not aware that their ability to drink is impaired by flying, and so what a person safely can consume on ground can lead to life threatening symptoms in the air. Im not telling you not to drink, just to take it easy... Also, it is illegal to be drunk on an aircraft!

Moving From UK To US..Average Wage?

So me and my cousin are planning on moving to Oakland, California from England.
We want to plan every little bit right so I was wondering how much the average wage would be somewhere in Oakland? Maybe if it was working in a diner waiting tables as a first job out there how much would that get us?

If you could answer that would be really useful,
Thanks

Also, if you know any extra info needed about moving from UK to US that would also be really useful!

Best Answer

Unless you have a relative to sponsor you or are highly skilled and can find an employer to sponsor you, you are simply NOT going to immigrate to the U.S. even those who have a sponsor must wait years for the immigration process. the U.S. has more immigration applicants than any country on the world...we are simply overrun with them and a very few are accepted...people with relatives in the U.S. or with very valuable skills. There is NO visa you can qualify for and you need to face that and amend your goals. If you would be interested in living and working in the U.S. for a year...in Florida...you can check out the 2ndsite below. Florida is FAR better than Oakland, CA , anyway!

Can You Tell Me If I Was In Ghana And Got My?

confirmation on a fly back to the states, but could not come right back for a few months, would there be a penalty i had to pay to rebook my ticket so i can fly out.

Best Answer

It depends on the conditions of the ticket you bought. Some are open ended and allow you to change dates for free, some are non-changeable/non-refundable and you forfeit it if you don't fly on that date, and some have a change fee which could be about $25-50 to change the date

The only way to find out is to call the airline directly with the passenger name and flight number and date and they will look up the booking conditions and advise whether this ticket can be changed or not, and if there is any charge to change the flight date

Or ask this question before you book your ticket. Don't book online - either book through a travel agent or by calling the airline. If you think there is a chance you might have to change your return date, then tell them you are either looking for an open ended ticket, or for a ticket where you can change the date by paying a fee - but find out the change fee before you book

I had to change my flight date from LA to London last summer and I only had to pay a $50 fee to change the dates because of the ticket I have. But when I travel for business, they usually buy changeable/refundable tickets so there is no fee to change the return date

What To Take To Brazil?

I'm moving to Brazil for a year and a half to do missionary work. Specifically I'll be in the state of Santa Catarina. I'm wondering what kind of things I should bring with me that I wont be able to find there or that is much cheaper here (in the United States).

Best Answer

Wow you are in for a real treat!!! I served my mission in Santa Catarina and I have been back about a year and a half. despite what you may think it does get pretty cold there. It snowed a couple times, but the summers are extremely hot. I'm assuming you are a sister missionary because of the time, I don't know everything the sisters used on the mission, but the president lets you wear coats and most of the sisters would wear thick long socks or nylons i think. You have washing machines in every apartment but no dryers. so bring things that dry easily becuase the humidity there makes it very difficult to dry. Socks take at least a week at times when there is no sun. So a blow dryer is nice to have to dry things quicker. Really the only things that are cheaper here are electronics. If you want to buy a camera down there it is very expensive. They only have roll-on deoderant though so take a bunch with you or you can have your parents ship you some, warning though packages do get opened and stuff gets taken, my mom would cover my boxes with catholic saint stickers and i didn't ever have anything taken, also when they write what they are sending just put"missionary supplies" thats what it is, and they don't expect anything to fancy or nice in it cause there really isn't. But i'm so jeleous of you right now, Florianopolis is the most beautiful place ever and the people are amazing!!!! Oh one more thing I took toothpaste, they have toothpaste, i just like american stuff better. I don't know if there is a way to get in contact with you without everyone knowing who I am ha ha but I would be more than happy to help you!

What Were The Historical Connections Between Helot And Metic People In Ancient Greece?

The only possible class interaction that I could see would be through intermarriage, although I found no evidence of this. One group was part of the Athenian culture, the other part of the Spartan culture, and I could find no relationship between the two groups. The Helots worked the farms as almost slaves, whereas the Metics had a lot of freedom.

The way of life of the Athenians was common in the Greek world compared to Sparta's special system.

ATHENS
In ancient Greece, the term METIC referred to a resident alien, one who did not have citizen rights in his or her Greek city-state (polis) of residence. Metics held lower social status but not on the basis of socio-economic class. Some were poor artisans and ex-slaves, while others were some of the wealthiest inhabitants of the city. As citizenship was a matter of inheritance and not place of birth, a metic could be either an immigrant or the descendant of one. Regardless of how many generations of the family had lived in the city, metics did not become citizens unless the city chose to bestow citizenship on them as a gift. This was rarely done. From a cultural viewpoint such a resident could be completely"local" and indistinguishable from citizens. They had no role in the political community but might be completely integrated into the social and economic life of the city.

Metics typically shared the burdens of citizenship without any of its privileges. Like citizens, they had to perform military service and, if wealthy enough, were subject to the special tax contributions (eisphora) and tax services.
The status divide between metic and citizen was not always clear. In the street no physical signs distinguished citizen from metic or slave. Sometimes the actual status a person had attained became a contested matter. Although local registers of citizens were kept, if one's claim to citizenship was challenged the testimony of neighbours and the community was decisive

Unlike in Rome, slaves who were freed did not become citizens. Instead, they were mixed into the population of METICS, which included people from foreign countries or other city-states who were officially allowed to live in the state.

SPARTA
Sparta had a special type of slaves called HELOTS. Helots were Greek war captives owned by the state and assigned to families where they were forced to stay. Tied to the land, they worked in agriculture as a majority and economically supported the Spartan citizens. Helots raised food and did household chores so that women could concentrate on raising strong children while men could devote their time to training as hoplites. Their masters treated them harshly and helots often revolted. The Helots were serfs, little better than slaves, bound to the farms and forced to cultivate the soil for the citizens who owned the land. These Helots, whose marriages and children were not so strictly controlled by the state, were the most numerous class and bitterly hated their masters. Only the amazing organization and fighting powers of the Spartan state kept them under control.
