Moving From UK To US..Average Wage?

So me and my cousin are planning on moving to Oakland, California from England.
We want to plan every little bit right so I was wondering how much the average wage would be somewhere in Oakland? Maybe if it was working in a diner waiting tables as a first job out there how much would that get us?

Unless you have a relative to sponsor you or are highly skilled and can find an employer to sponsor you, you are simply NOT going to immigrate to the U.S. even those who have a sponsor must wait years for the immigration process. the U.S. has more immigration applicants than any country on the world...we are simply overrun with them and a very few are accepted...people with relatives in the U.S. or with very valuable skills. There is NO visa you can qualify for and you need to face that and amend your goals.
