I might be going there but I don't know what to expect. I am from Texas and it is very hot and warm here most of the time. Will Canada be a shock to me? Is it as cold as the stereotype suggests? Are people there friendly?

Summers are warm: 80s& 90s and humidity that makes it feel like the low 100s.
Right this minute it's 10.40 PM. The temperature is 18 but the windchill makes it feel like -5.
(I said that in Fahrenheit to spare you any confusion. But keep in mind Canada's metric so everything from speed limits to temperatures and more is measured in metric.)
If you think Texas is big, you won't after you've seen Ontario:

Big Bend Ranch State Park is the biggest in Texas at 300,000 acres.
Polar Bear Provincial Park is Ontario's largest at 6,000,000 acres. Yes, 6 million.
Folks are friendly just in a different way from that down-home, good ol' boy Texas stereotype.
The scenery will be unlike what you're used to.
The northern part Ontario is sparsely populated wilderness covered in endless forest.
And it's jam-packed with critters ranging from moose to deer to bears to wolves and more.
The southern part Ontario is farmland and urban sprawl.
It's jam-packed with people. (Ontario the most populous& industrialized Province in Canada.)
A few glimpses of what it all looks like:

Toronto is Canada's biggest city, North America's 5th biggest& the capital of Ontario.
The view from atop the CN Tower at night gives a hint at its size:

Toronto is also home to the busiest freeway on the continent, the 401:

Canada's capital city of Ottawa is also located in Ontario.
We've got 250,000 lakes in Ontario. Including four of North America's five Great Lakes.
(The Great Lakes are freshwater inland seas so big they've got tides and currents.)
There's a lot of unique things here.
The world's 2 longest white sand freshwater beaches. (Wasaga and Sauble).
The world's biggest freshwater island archipelago (The Thirty Thousand Islands.)
The Lake Huron shoreline's unique climate generates the best sunsets in North America.
Plus lots more.
Hope that helps a bit and good luck to you
