What Is The Cheapest Part Of Manhattan To Live In?

I would imagine Harlem, but I've heard that the crime rate there is horrible. I guess a better question is what is the second cheapest part of Manhattan to live in?

The two cheapest neighborhoods in Manhattan are Inwood and Washington Heights.

But they are so distant from the rest of Manhattan that you'd be far better off (and a whole heck of a lot closer to the places you want to be in Manhattan) if you lived in parts of Western Queens or Northwestern Brooklyn.
